What the GIF is a video-to-GIF converter that runs entirely in your browser. This page explains what we do and don't collect, and your rights as a visitor.

The short version

• Your videos never leave your browser. All conversion happens locally on your device. We never see, store, or transmit the videos you convert.
• We don't run accounts, signups, or logins. We don't collect names, emails, or any personal information.
• We use Google AdSense to show ads, which sets cookies. You can reject these via the cookie banner.
• We don't currently run analytics or tracking pixels of our own.

What we don't collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit:

• The videos you upload (they are processed entirely in your browser using HTML5 canvas)
• The GIFs you generate
• Your name, email address, or any personal information
• Your location beyond what's available in standard server logs (IP address)

Cookies and local storage

The site uses cookies and browser storage in three ways:

• Consent preference — when you accept or reject cookies via the banner, your choice is stored in your browser's localStorage so we don't ask again. You can clear it at any time via your browser's storage settings.
• Advertising cookies (Google AdSense) — if you accept cookies, Google AdSense sets cookies to serve and personalize ads. See how Google uses ad cookies.
• Server-side — our hosting provider (Netlify) logs basic request information including IP address and user-agent for security and performance reasons.

We participate in the Google AdSense program. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at google.com/settings/ads or via the cookie banner on this site.

Third parties

We rely on the following third-party services:

Your rights

Because we don't collect personal information, there's nothing for us to share, delete, or correct on your behalf. You can:

• Reject cookies via the banner at any time (clear your browser storage to see it again).
• Opt out of personalized ads at google.com/settings/ads.
• Block all advertising via your browser or an ad blocker — the converter will still work.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
